Vanessa started her work out helping pregnant moms as a massage therapist in 1996 in SW Pennsylvania. In 2004 she was invited to attend her first birth for a laboring massage client in South Carolina.

In 2005 with the birth of her nephew she realized there was a real need for better birth choices on the Grand Strand. Thus began a 10 year journey from 2007-2017 in assisting several home birth and birth center midwives all over the state.
