“My labor with my first baby was long & tiring, and I was awake for a long time. I wasn’t able to rest in the hospital and by the time I came home, I was determined to “do it all on my own”. This was a big mistake!! I ended up with postpartum depression and needed assistance from my family just so I could get some sleep and start motherhood on the right track. My husband was very supportive, but he had to return to work quickly after the birth.”

Our role as Postpartum Doulas is to support mothers first, babies second, other family members third, and housework fourth. This will look different from mother to mother, family to family, or even week to week!
